Jackson fifth-grader's missionary cruise with a cause (867 hits)

Jami A. Brown (a fifth grader at Elms Elementary School in Jackson, NJ) attended Cruise With A Cause 2008, a missionary trip offered by PraiseFest Ministries that connects missionary volunteers with disadvantaged schools in Freeport and Nassau, Bahamas.

This cruise also offered a chance to attend PraiseFest 2008, a concert in Nassau, Bahamas which featured Dr. Tony Evans, Minister Donnie McClurkin, various gospel artists, eleven hundred missionary volunteers and over thirty thousand Bahamians.

Jami, along with fourteen other missionaries (including recording artist Mary-Mary), visited the Uriah McPhee Primary School in Nassau, Bahamas. Fourteen hundred children were gathered on the floor of the auditorium as they burst out in loud cheers of surprise and excitement to welcome their visitors from the USA.

"They treated us like celebrities" stated Jami.

The excitement grew as the children were blessed by a heavenly rendition from Mary-Mary. After touching hearts through music, and offering words of encouragement, the microphone was then passed to Pastor Robert Brown, of Alabama. He led the group in prayer as the missionaries prayed for their salvation, and offered support through self.

Not only did the room full of children make the decision to give their lives to the Lord, but a few teachers did as well. The children were also blessed with salvation necklaces, a magazine which explained the meaning of each color of the 5 beads, as well as the many donated school supplies that was collected by the cruisers and volunteers.

When asked about her first missionary experience Jami replied "It was nice! The children were so sweet." Jami also stated that she would advise everyone to become missionaries and to go out and help others join Christ.
